All seven children were able to make sound discriminations on consonant-vowel syllables, and three children could discriminate music. Two children with polymicrogyria and one with spina bifida apergens responded to the clicks, whistles, and tone-bursts used in the activation procedures. In our series, seven children with posterior fossa malformations had a mixed outcome. Children with Chiari malformation with cerebellar ectopia did not respond to the stimulation, possibly because of the associated damage of the cochlear nerve.
