If we were to look at the Windows 11 Dev channel, Notepad is one of the latest tools to enjoy the new Fluent Design. The news has stirred up a lot of curiosity among users, especially since the new Notepad comes with dark mode, an updated look and rearranged features.
In case you do want to skip installing an unstable Windows 11 build, but are curious to check out the new Notepad looks and feels, then you should consider using NotepadWithoutDevChannel.
Check out the new clipboard with the Add-AppxPackage command
First off, take note that the aforementioned is not an app per se, but rather a package that you can use to enable the new Notepad on your current Windows 11 build. For that you need to toggle on the Developer Mode from the Privacy & security feature and then use the Add-AppxPackage command in PowerShell.
The full command is Add-AppxPackage – Path Filepath, where the latter is the path of the file that you can copy via the context menu. According to the developer, if all steps are taken correctly, then Notepad should install and you can access it from the Start Menu.
A simple tool to check out the new Notepad without Dev Channel
By far the biggest change to Notepad is that it supports dark mode. Even though the app takes the general users' system theme preferences, you can now change that from the Settings along with other font options.
Granted, Notepad is not exactly an application that needs a lot of changes. Nevertheless, Microsoft decided that it’s about time the tool got a fresh, but familiar look. If you can’t wait until the official release on Windows 11, then download the NotepadWithoutDevChannel package and follow the above instructions to try it out on your current build.

This package provides Notepad with no development channel. The package modifies the registry to prevent updates from being installed. It is used to test a modified or pre-release version of Notepad.
The developer also notes that the package is not intended for production use. In case you do want to use the dark theme, then the workaround of applying a dark color theme to the Windows console might be an option.
In case you want to try out the Notepad without Dev Channel without breaking anything, then let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
It’s just a bit of discussion, but I’m curious about the background. Back in the “good old days” there was no such thing as the Win 10 Anniversary update. Today, the tools, etc., are very different. How much influence does this new design have on the Win10U work? Does it use the new style, too, and do you consider this significant?
Btw, I think it’s just a matter of time before someone finds and tweaks Win10U to incorporate all the new Win10 style “improvements”. My guess is that within the next month you’ll see a few Windows “XP style” modifications from a 3rd party.

The most significant factor in the new design is the wider, 10-point application bar. This means that items like the Open button, which is currently on the left of the application bar, will now be centered on the application bar. There will also be the addition of new items, like Favorites, Recently Opened, the Favorites menu, etc.

NotepadWithoutDevChannel Crack+ With License Code
Notepad Without Dev Channel Package – Notepad is one of the tools that have stayed unaltered since the beginning of Windows, and we’re happy to bring you the latest version of it in this package.
One of the smallest changes to Notepad is the addition of a dark mode.
Dark mode is not supported by older versions of Windows
Windows 10’s dark mode is a way to make using Windows on a dark screen easier on the eyes.
Windows 10 was designed from the start to have a dark mode, and with Windows 11 it’s now possible to have a dark Notepad, too.
On the other hand, the new dark Notepad works for Windows 10 and earlier versions of Windows.
Just as you can turn the UI dark, you can also have a dark Notepad. It’s something we’ve been waiting to see for a while.
Now you can!
Finding Notepad on the Start menu
To use Notepad, you don’t have to open the Settings and pick ‘Notepad’ from the list of apps.
Instead, you can find Notepad in the Start menu, and jump right in to a dark Notepad.
Choose a dark mode
If you have the Windows 10 Anniversary Update installed, you already have a dark mode. Just go to Settings and choose ‘Theme’.
If you have an older version of Windows 10, you’ll have to download the theme yourself. You can download it from here.
After you’ve downloaded it, you’ll have to move it to the folder called ‘Themes’ in your ‘Appearance and personalization’ settings.
Then, restart the computer, and you’ll have a dark Notepad.
Other changes
The other small changes to Notepad include an updated look and layout of the file menu.
Like the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, the new Notepad only comes with a dark mode if you have an update from Windows 10.
It’s also possible to remove the developer or developer preview version of Windows 11 from your machine, and install the final version from Windows Update. However, this option is only available on Professional, Enterprise and Education editions of Windows.
If you don’t have a license to download Windows 11, then the best way to get the final build is to use the Windows Insider program.
If you just want to try out the Notepad without installing Windows 11, then you’ll have to download

My review of the app is as follows,
Maybe I am missing something, but I don’t see a big changes in the Notepad.
I have used Notepad for years, but I have never use it with dark mode, although I will be happy to see it.
I really like the changes made in the screenshot, but this is a small improvement at best. I think that it’s better to fix the font-size, I think the font is small in the current version.
Definitely when Windows 11 will be released, Microsoft should do what is right and stable version.
Vittorio
I have only one comment about it.
I have downloaded Notepad without Dev channel and I am using the dark theme and the font size is still small.
I have searched online on how to change the size but found nothing.
Maybe you can post a screenshot?
Thanks!

I think that in Windows 10, for example, the size is fine.
Anyway, I am trying to fix it, so we’ll see.
Bogdan
I have the dark mode problem too. Notepad is a must-have app to edit any file, but even with the dark theme, the font size is small. So, it’s no fun.
Vittorio
I think that is a font problem
What size are you using?
Maybe your screen is not calibrated right.
Vittorio
Check how the font is in the settings. If is like me, you have to click the font size and then click “Apply”.

On Windows 10, in the language section the font size is fine, but in the windows system preferences section, it is too small.

In Windows 10, the font size is right, but in Settings the font size is small
Vittorio
As I said, you must apply the font size to the system preferences.

I’m using the dark theme, as soon as I open Notepad, the font is too small for my taste and I don’t know how to fix it… I have tried to change the theme but nothing changed.. it’s the same no matter the theme.

Matthew, the font size has nothing to do with the Windows theme. The font size is related to the setting of the font size in the system settings. To change that go to Settings, apps and apps and
